Celebrating Our Winners for 2005

Building Community: Bridging Our Differences

The Reverend James Rice Memorial Essay Contest

Sponsored by the InterFaith Forum of Rochester

Congratulations to our winners for the 2005 contest and thank you to all who participated!

An awards celebration was held on January 8, 2005 at Downtown Presbyterian Church where all contestants were recognized, and a panel discussion was held between the winners and religious leaders from the Christian, Jewish, and Baha'i communities. Our winners were asked to discuss their ideas for building bridges of understanding in the community.

Discussion panel religious leaders included

Charlotte Clarke, Director of Community Relations, WHAM-TV and Host/Producer of the Many Voices, Many Visions television program, moderated the discussion.

Dr. Aly Nahas spoke about the legacy of Rev. James Rice. The Contest Organizing Committee, which planned the Essay Contest, is chaired by Rev. Larry Witmer.
